That said, self-custody is a trade-off: if you lose your 12-word seed phrase and your password, your funds cannot be recovered by anyone, including us.

The underlying Sia consensus code and walletd core are maintained by The Sia Foundation with audit history on sia.tech. No. Sia Wallet cannot recover a lost seed. The team does not hold your keys, does not have access to your wallet file, and cannot derive your seed from anything. This is the trade-off for full self-custody. The only recovery path is the 12-word seed you backed up during setup. Back up seeds in two physical locations before funding any wallet.
