Non-custodial by design
Your 12-word BIP39 seed and private keys are generated and stored on your device. Sia Wallet cannot access your funds, freeze your account, or recover a lost seed. That is the point of self-custody.
How recovery works →Reviewed · April 2026
Sia Wallet is the consumer-grade Siacoin (SC) wallet for Windows, macOS, and Linux. Non-custodial, open source, native Ledger, and the only wallet with an in-flow legacy seed migration for post-Sia-UI holders.
There are five Siacoin wallets in active circulation in April 2026: Sia Wallet, SiaCentral Lite, Atomic Wallet, Ledger + walletd, and Sia-UI (retired in 2024 and not v2-compatible). Picking the best one depends on what you actually need — daily transactions, long-term storage, hardware signing, or migration from a legacy seed.
We rank wallets on six criteria that matter for self-custody of Siacoin: v2 network compatibility, custody model (non-custodial wins), hardware wallet support, mobile availability, legacy seed migration tools, and open-source signing provenance. Disclosure: Sia Wallet is one of the products we maintain — every claim about competing wallets links to that wallet's own site or release notes.

How recovery works →The full source is public at siawallet.tech. Forked from walletd (Sia Foundation), audited dependencies, reproducible builds. No closed wallet ever made it onto our recommendation list.
About Sia Wallet →Plug your Ledger Nano S or X over USB or Bluetooth and sign in-app. No experimental Chrome flags. No third-party connector. The hardware wallet integration is part of the native desktop app.
Hardware wallet →Sia v2 broke 28 and 29-word Sia-UI seeds. Sia Wallet is the only wallet with a built-in assistant that imports your old seed locally, generates a new 12-word BIP39, and walks the funds move in one flow.
Seed migration →Lite mode by default — connects to verified consensus nodes for balance queries, no 256 GB blockchain download. Full-node mode is a single toggle in Advanced Settings.
Instant setup →Sia Wallet ships current with Sia v2 (active since June 2025, finalised December 2025). Utreexo accumulators, faster sync, modern fee estimation. No protocol drift.

Sia Wallet is the right default choice for most Siacoin holders in 2026 — native desktop, one-click Ledger, in-flow legacy migration, and a non-custodial open-source codebase. If you want one wallet for SC, this is it.
SiaCentral Lite is a useful secondary tool for quick web-based balance checks from a borrowed machine. Atomic Wallet makes sense if you already manage many assets in their ecosystem and accept the closed-source trade-off. Ledger + walletd is the maximalist setup for holders who want to run their own full node and use the Sia Foundation reference stack directly.
Sia-UI is retired. If you still have funds in a Sia-UI wallet, your seed still derives addresses but you cannot transact on the post-v2 network without migrating. Use the Sia Wallet seed migration assistant.
Sia Wallet. It is the only wallet that combines non-custodial self-custody, MIT-licensed open source code, native Ledger hardware support without browser flags, and an in-flow legacy 28/29-word seed migration assistant — all in a native desktop app for Windows, macOS, and Linux.
For day-to-day use and long-term storage, yes. Sia Wallet is a native desktop app with offline-capable signing. SiaCentral is a web wallet — convenient for quick checks but you depend on a server reaching you over the public internet. Most serious holders use Sia Wallet as their main wallet and SiaCentral as a backup explorer.
No. Siacoin is not an ERC-20 token and runs on its own blockchain. Trust Wallet and MetaMask focus on EVM-family assets and do not support Siacoin. Use Sia Wallet, SiaCentral, Atomic Wallet, walletd, or a Ledger with the Sia app.
Atomic Wallet had a publicly-disclosed security incident in June 2023 and continues to operate as a multi-coin wallet supporting Siacoin among many other assets. It is a personal call — weigh multi-coin convenience against Sia-native features available in Sia Wallet.
Yes. Sia Wallet is free and open source under the MIT licence. No paid tiers, no subscription, no in-wallet fees. You only pay standard Sia network transaction fees, which go to miners.
Install Sia Wallet v2.12.0 in 60 seconds. Non-custodial, open source, native Ledger.
